Ballet Retire Terminology Retire [ ruh-tee-RAY ]. Withdrawn. Ballet Dancer does a position in which the thigh is raised to the second position en l air with the knee bent so that the pointed toe is in front of, behind or to the side of the supporting knee. Ballet Term Raccourci Raccourci [ ra-koor-SEE ]. Shortened. Dancers do a ballet position in which the thigh is raised to the second position en l'air, with the knee bent and is pointed at the knee of the supporting leg.

Passe [pa-SAY]. Passed. This is an auxiliary movement in which the foot of the working leg passes the knee of the supporting leg from one position.
