Rivoltade
Rivoltade [ree-vawl-TAD]. A French term derived from the Italian “rivoltare,” to turn over.
A dancer’s step in which the dancer places one leg in the air and then gives the impression that he jumps over it with the other leg. Raise the right leg up in front, spring into the air and bring the left leg over the top of the right leg while turning to the right. Land facing the opposite direction on the left leg with the right leg raised to back. Rivoltade may be executed from various preparations and ended in various poses such as first or third Russian arabesque.
